Richard Rood.

Hello, I’m Richard Rood though, those who know me call me Dick. I had the privilege of serving our country towards the tail end of the Korean War. Shortly there after I married my wife Darlene. For 10 years I worked for an air conditioning company after which myself and 4 others started a mechanical contracting company based out of Santa Clara, CA. Over the years, I purchased the other 4 shares in the company and have been the sole owner for 53 years. In 1985, we bought the property for and in 1999 built our retirement home in Swansboro, CA.

In 2006, I was able to fulfill a long term dream and built Mosquito Creek Outfitters in Placerville. Through our clients I found there was a need for somewhere they could practice shooting sports and in 2018, after I had “retired”, Hangtown Range was born. Located in what had been an abandoned tire store on Broadway, we began renovation on what you see today. We have greatly enjoyed living in the Placerville area and continue to look forward to engaging with our community every chance we get in our busy “retirement”. Thank you for being the best part of our range and I look forward to seeing you in the lanes.

JOHN ADAMS.

Hello, I’m John and I am the manager here at the range. I am 39 years old and I was born and raised here in El Dorado county. I have had a huge passion for firearms for over a decade now. I am a hobbyist gunsmith and love taking things apart to find out what makes them tick. I am intimately familiar with a wide range of eastern European and American platforms and with enough time and a Youtube tutorial, I can do just about anything.

I am a California DOJ certified instructor, BSIS Firearms Instructor, USCCA certified RSO, USCCA certified firearms instructor and Utah CFP Instructor. I look forward to the opportunity to serve my community by creating well armed and well trained firearms enthusiasts. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist in your journey. Thank you for being the best part of our range and your continued support, I look forward to seeing you in the lanes.

Jenna Lute.

Hello, my name is Jenna, and I’m a little bit of everything here at the range. Whether I’m behind the front counter or inside the range as an RSO, I’m always on the lookout for our new shooters to extend them a warm welcome. Primarily you will find me working with shooters in the range with individualized instruction or in our classroom teaching one of the various classes we offer.

I was introduce to firearms while in college. I completed my POST Firearms Instructor training and moved into the competitive world of shooting starting with SASS aka Cowboy Action Shooting. I have also participated in many 3 Gun National events. I’m a DOJ Firearms Instructor, BSIS firearms instructor, a USCCA Range Master and a certified POST Academy Instructor.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you in the lanes.

Mike Vallerga

Hello, I’m Mike, I moved into the Placerville area with my beautiful bride after retiring from a 27 year career in law enforcement. I was proud to begin my career by serving our country for 8 years as a Marine infantryman and later a Regimental Training NCO.

Following my service in the military, I worked for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department and then made the transition into the position of a Police Lieutenant/Dispatch-Records Manager with NASA law enforcement.

I was able to finish my career working for the Richmond P.D. where I wore many hats ranging from Patrol Officer, to K9 Handler, to Basic Firearms Instructor/Rifle Instructor.

I enjoy once again serving my community by being part of the range and giving our clients and staff the benefit of my many years of experience. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you in the lanes.
